September Loot Crate Unboxing: Speed

September’s Loot Crate theme is Speed.  Obviously, that does not refer to me, as I’m posting this in October.

In my defense, I usually don’t get the crates until the last week and a half of each month… But who am I kidding?  I’d still probably be late.

September Loot Crate: Speed

This month’s Loot Crate shows off some very speedy modes of transportation and one freakishly fast metahuman.

When opening the crate, the inside of the box showcases a red car… I know what that turns into!

But first, the contents of the box!

The first thing I grabbed was this month’s t-shirt.  Made especially for Loot Crate by Marvel, it reminds everyone that Tony Stark is not just a bad ass gravity defying, metal wearing, superhero.  He’s also an adrenaline junky with far too much money for his own good.

In Iron Man 2, Stark races in the Grand Monaco race, to the horror of Pepper Potts.  And rightly so – just not for the reasons she had imagined – as he’s soon attacked by Whiplash, and his beautiful vintage inspired race car is destroyed.

I mean… really destroyed.

Next out of the box is a replica from Battlestar Galactica.  I’m not familiar with this universe, but the box says it is a “Scar” Titan vinyl replica.  It’s apparently the fastest of the Cylon Raiders (the Cylon’s primary attack fleet).  I’m assuming these are bad guys as this looks pretty deadly.

Following the Raider, I pulled out a Batwing Keychain.  This is a really cool replica of Batman’s plane from the original 1989 Batman film, starring Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson.

I might have to fight my husband for it.  He currently has a batarang for a keychain; I’m sure he’ll try to swipe this from me if I’m not careful.

The next item I pulled out is a replica of the Mustang from Gone in 60 Seconds.  I did not know this, but there were two films made.  I’m more familiar with the one with Nicholas Cage and Angelina Jolie, but there was also an older film that starred H.B. Halicki (sorry, never heard of him).  In both films Eleanor, the fastest Ford Mustang in the known universe, played a prominent role and was well loved by both leading men.

You can’t have a speed themed box without including everyone’s favorite speedster… The Flash!  Actually, you could have either received The Flash or The Arrow in your box.  Loot Crate’s reasoning was that Barry Allen, a.k.a. The Flash, was first introduced on the the TV show Arrow.  However, I was really happy to get The Flash considering he’s… you know… really fast.

The replicas are actually hood ornaments!  They have a magnetized base so that you can attach it to the hood of your car!  Classy.  But really, you probably should just pop this on your desk or bookshelf. It’s made of a plastic material and probably wouldn’t hold up well under harsh weather.

This month’s pin is a tire peeling out, smoke and sparks coming out from underneath.

As usual, the pin comes with online content.  September’s content is a free digital copy of Velocity, a comic about the fastest woman in the world.  Velocity has been enhanced by cybernetics, and is part of a team made up of all cyber-enhanced superheroes, called Cyberforce.  The comic follows her racing to defeat the evil Cyberdata villains and her life as a member of Cyberforce.

If you’ve been following my blog, you know by now that the box always turns into a gift itself.  This month, the box turns into a car!  Appropriate for the theme.  Loot Crate did something a little different this month, and the boxes could have come in one of three colors: red, blue, and green.  We got red; and after about 10 minutes of trying to figure how to fold the dang thing, I finally had it assembled and ready to race!

Pretty sweet ride, huh?  You should see what’s under the hood!

Now that I’ve established my street cred…

Until next time speed demons!

Please don’t mind the mess.
